Peter Mandel, MD
Dr. Mandel attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and graduated with highest honors. He remained there to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In August 1987, he joined Women's Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Mandel is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of Alpha Omega, a medical honor society. During his academic training he received a New York Regents Scholarship for college, won a New York State Regents Scholarship in Medicine and a Hametz McGannity Academic Scholarship in medical school. Currently, at CentraState Medical Center, Dr. Mandel is the Assistant Chairperson of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Medical Executive Committee. He is the former Chairman of the Laser Committee.
Listening to his patient’s needs is an essential part of Dr. Mandel’s philosophy. He often utilizes natural and nutritional approaches to compliment traditional medical treatments for conditions such as menopause and PMS, and has presented many lectures on these topics. Dr. Mandel is an advocate of minimally invasive approaches to surgery and has introduced many of the latest techniques to Central New Jersey. His surgical skills include advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. Currently, he is one of the few doctors in the state performing the tension free tape procedure, a minimally invasive surgery to treat urinary incontinence. Dr. Mandel has significant expertise in ultrasound, particularly the new 3-D ultrasound.
On the personal side, Dr. Mandel has been happily married to his wife, Joan, for over twenty years. They have two teenage boys. Dr. Mandel is the former committee chairman of Cub Scout Pack 160 and is a member of the Sunrise Optimist Club. |
