Robert Portadin, MD.
 Dr. Robert Portadin was born and raised in Lower Manhattan where he attended the elite Stuyvesant High School and received a New York State Regents Scholarship. Upon graduating college he chose to follow the same path as his two brothers, both physicians, and pursued his medical training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He received his Medical Degree in 1973 and then completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York City in 1977. That same year Dr. Portadin moved to Freehold, New Jersey with his family and joined Women’s Physicians and Surgeons. He has attained his certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of OB/GYN. Today he continues to serve Women’s Physicians and Surgeons as its senior physician/partner.
In the 1980’s, Dr. Portadin served as Chief of Staff at CentraState Medical Center and later as Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN for thirteen years. Dr. Portadin maintains full attending privileges at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, NJ. Due to his commitment to his patients and the medical community, he continues to practice both obstetrics and gynecology full-time at a juncture in his career that many physicians have already begun to scale back their professional activities.
As the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology continues to evolve, Dr. Portadin has incorporated the latest surgical techniques such as minimally invasive surgery as a means of shortening the recovery period and allowing for a quicker return to day-to-day activities. He is also an advocate of natural and nutritional, as well as, pharmacological approaches to the treatment and prevention of ailments, depending upon patient’s wants and needs.
Dr. Portadin has been happily married to his wife, Mary, for over 35 years and has two adult sons, Jay and Todd. Mary is a contract administrator at Wall Sports Arena. Jay graduated from Kutztown University in 1996 and is a police officer with the NYPD. Todd graduated from NYU in 2002 and is a NJ State Trooper. |
